After suffering for some years, I’ve finally decided to have the operation under general anaesthetic. It was a day operation and the experience of general anaesthetic was something unreal. A few painful days followed but it was so worth it in the end.

18 February

What should have been a joyous day, Thomas’ birthday instead it was a devastating day as a call came in to say my older brother Chris died in hospital around midday!

Sadly his funeral in Cyprus coincided with a long pre-booked trip to Geneva so it wasn’t possible to be there.

We went for a meal to my sisters Mary, Nitsa and Roula. At Roula my mum was there too.

26 September

Travelled up to Inverness via the Lake District. Stopped at Hawkshead on the way there.

30 September

In the morning we ran the Torvean Parkrun, just outside of Inverness.

1st October

Run my best ever Marathon at Loch Ness, finishing in Inverness in just over 4 hrs 15 min.

10th October

Three days after the Hamas attack on Israel we flew to Larnaca for a few days. We continued to do the Alphabet Game in Cyprus although street signs were not that easy to find… We did find a 10km in Xylotymbou to run!

We stayed near Protaras and also visited Aghia Napa in the evenings and watched the Medieval Festival parade and other shows!

15 October

Round of Xylotymbou 10Km race. I was first in my age group.

23 October 2023:

Went to the launch of Anna Zannides’ book: How did I get here? With fellow school friends, Marios Hadjipanayi, Maria Miltiadou and Marilyn East.

Attended the Central London Humanist event where Alex Williams was the guest speaker.

Broxbourne Badgers First v Hatfield Athletic First was a game to forget. I had trouble getting to the game because of traffic then had nowhere to park… then the Home team were a nightmare… had to send off their player-manager and things didn’t get better. I had to write a report to the Herts FA.

In December 2023 I started a virtual challenge to walk/jog/run from Lands End to John O’Groats. I completed it faster than expected in April 2024.

My sister Mary went into hospital suffering with her heart.
